Barons de Rothschild Millésime 2012
D.O Champagne
Pinot Noir Chardonnay
Description
The know-how of wines from great vintages. The perfect balance between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir terroirs.
2012. A surprising vintage.
Cold at first, then extremely hot, 2012 was a year of numerous weather threats. The long winter was followed by a cold spring with few hours of sunshine. After hail and heavy rain until the end of July, the miraculous month of August brought scorching heat, which lasted until the end of the harvest and saved the 2012 vintage. The harvest, not very abundant but with an unusual and outstanding quality, makes this vintage one of the most valuable of the century.
Tasting notes
Appearance: Generous ring of foam, pale gold highlights. Long lasting and calm effervescence.
Nose: Complex and spicy. On the forefront it immediately reveals an expressive Pinot Noir personality. Aromas of pear, peach and fresh almond elegantly accompany the finesse of a chalky minerality typical of great Chardonnay terroirs.
Palate: The wine is robust, fleshy and well-structured on the entry with notes of nectarine and vineyard peach. This strength gives way to a deliciously taut and saline finish, where sweet and spicy aromas mingle with notes of acacia.
