Description
Cardhu originates from one of the most historic distilleries in Speyside, located for two centuries on a hill near the River Spey. Its popularity is based on the stories of Helen Cumming, co-founder of the distillery in 1811 with her husband, who is remembered as a pioneer in the world of whiskey; and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth, known as the 'whiskey queen'.
Although its name comes from the Gaelic term for 'black rock', Cardhu offers malts with a pure and warm taste, often praised for their silky texture, which makes them refined and easy to enjoy. Cardhu 18 years is a long-aged Scotch single malt whiskey, with a serene nature that is gently discovered, showing a richness that captivates even the most demanding palates. It presents a full profile, maintaining Cardhu's characteristic subtle charm.
In the mouth, sweet and pleasant flavors unfold, with nuances of fruit and chocolate, and complex aromas that include pears, plums, currants and a touch of pineapple. The fullness of its flavors is fully revealed when adding a teaspoon of water, which serves to release its essence. This 18 year old single malt was recognized as Best Speyside Single Malt at the 2016 World Whiskey Awards, making it a perfect gift for whiskey enthusiasts. Its alcohol content is 40%.
