Cesar Marquez Parajes 2022
D.O Bierzo
Mencia Garnacha Tinta
Description
Cesar Marquez Parajes is a red wine made from Mencía, Garnacha Tintorera and other varieties of the D.O. Bierzo by César Marque Pérez.
In the winery, 50% of the grapes used to make César Márquez Parajes are destemmed. Afterwards, they are gently trodden in the old style, with the feet, so that some of them remain whole during fermentation. The fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts from the grapes themselves. Once the must has become wine, it is pressed and placed in 225 and 500 litre barrels separately. After 12 months, the barrels are emptied and the different wines are blended.
César Márquez is the nephew of the famous oenologist Raúl Pérez who, with his support and that of his family, owners of the Castro Ventosa winery in Bierzo, decided in 2015 to make his own wines in a first harvest that resulted in a Godello from centenary vines from two small plots called La Salvación. Currently, he produces different plots of old vines where we find different varieties in addition to Mencía.
César Márquez Parajes Tasting Notes
César Márquez Parajes is a juicy red wine with aromas of fresh red and black fruit, vegetal notes and spicy touches. In the mouth it is fruity, enveloping and very full-bodied. A wine with a lot of freshness, impeccably integrated and with a delicious saline finish.
