Cesar Marquez Rapolao 2022
D.O Bierzo
Garnacha Tinta Mencia
Description
Cesar Marquez Rapolao is a red wine made from Mencía, Garnacha tintorera and other varieties of the D.O. Bierzo by César Marque Pérez.
The vineyard is over 100 years old, being planted in goblet trained vines in one of the coolest areas of the village with an orientation that provides less sunshine in the mornings compared to other vineyards.
The grapes are always harvested by hand to protect the quality of the grapes.
César Márquez is the nephew of the famous oenologist Raúl Pérez who, with his support and that of his family, owners of the Castro Ventosa winery in Bierzo, decided in 2015 to make his own wines in a first harvest that produced a Godello from centenary vines from two small plots called La Salvación. Currently, he produces different plots of old vines where we find different varieties in addition to Mencía.
César Márquez Rapolao Tasting Notes
César Márquez Pérez Rapolao is a concentrated, expressive and fresh wine. The aromas of ripe red fruit stand out above the smoky and spicy notes. In the mouth it is direct, with intensity and volume.
