Chateau Lafite L'Evangile 2015
D.O Pomerol
Merlot Cabernet Franc
Description
Chateau L'Evangile 2015 is a red wine made by Château Lafite Rothschild from grapes 80 to 90% Merlot, 10 to 20% Cabernet Franc in Pomerol.
An old edition of the "Grands vins de Bordeaux" describes the Grand Vin of Château l'Évangile as "...a full and elegant wine with an incomparable bouquet and finesse". Indeed, for many wine lovers, this wine is characterised by its elegant and subtle quality.
2015 was a year of ideal conditions. After a fairly mild winter, the vineyard started its vegetative cycle at the beginning of April. Spring brought pleasant temperatures and the occasional rain. Flowering was rapid and uniform, which boded well for a bountiful harvest.
Summer temperatures were well above average for July, with a few well-timed showers that gave the vineyard a break. August was very hot and the good weather continued into September. The rains just before the harvest allowed the grapes to reach perfect ripeness, resulting in an exceptional vintage.
