Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieux Piedlong 2020
D.O Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Monastrell garnacha
Description
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieux Piedlong is a red wine made by Domaine du Vieux in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the Southern Rhône, from 90% Grenache and 10% mourvèdre grapes.
It comes from vineyards with an average age of 70 years, located on a stony plateau called Piedlong for the Grenache and in the heart of the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, specifically in the Lieu-dit Pignan east of Piedlong for the Mourvèdre.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with light crushing and selective destemming. Traditional fermentation takes place for a minimum of 30 days in concrete and wood tanks, under strict temperature control. The aging period extends between 20 and 22 months in French oak barrels of 60 hectoliters. The wine is bottled without fining or filtering, thus preserving its authentic character.
