Chenin Blanc
Description
Domaine Guiberteau Clos de Guichaux is a white wine from Saumur, France, made from Chenin Blanc.
Romain Guiberteau , who currently runs the winery, is part of the fourth generation of this family estate located in the heart of the Loire. Domaine Guiberteau owns vines that are between 5 and 80 years old, and thanks to the advice of the Foucault brothers of Clos Rougeard, since 2003 he has been cultivating them according to the principles of organic farming, which means that the use of herbicides and pesticides is forbidden on the plots.
Domaine Guiberteau Clos de Guichaux is a wine resulting from the selection of grapes from a single plot, Clos de Guichaux, located in Bizay, Saumur, whose soils are composed of silt and sand on a bed of soft limestone and smooth.
The grapes are harvested by hand. The harvested bunches are transported to the cellar where they are slowly pressed. The must obtained is fermented with its own yeasts and aged in French oak barrels.
Guiberteau Clos de Guichaux tasting notes
Domaine Guiberteau Clos de Guichaux is a dry, deep and mineral white wine, with a powerful nose of citrus and ripe white fruit, as well as toasted notes from its ageing in barrels.
It is full and long on the palate with acidity and a salty finish that gives it freshness.
