Description

Domaine Matrot Bourgogne Rouge is a red wine made in Burgundy from Pinot Noir by Domaine Matrot.

The Matrot Bourgogne Rouge represents a Pinot Noir originating from vineyards with an average age of 15 years. After a complete removal of the bunches, the wine is cooled in vats for 3 to 6 days at a temperature of 10°C. Fermentation is carried out naturally by the winery's own yeasts over a period of 12 to 18 days. The wine is pumped over or pigeaged twice a day, depending on the vintage. Subsequently, the wine matures in oak barrels for 15 months in contact with its lees, 10% of the barrels being new. Finally, before bottling, it is conditioned for three months in steel tanks.

Domaine Matrot is located in the village of Meursault in Burgundy, right in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. It was established in the early 20th century by Joseph and Marguerite Matrot, and has remained in the hands of the Matrot family ever since. Today, Domaine Matrot encompasses 23 hectares (equivalent to 56 acres) of vineyards stretching across Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie and Maranges. This includes plots in the renowned Premier Cru Charmes and Perrieres vineyards in Meursault. Since 2000, all of Domaine Matrot's vineyards have been farmed exclusively by organic methods, in a gradual process that began in 1976.
