Description
Domaine Matrot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Chalumeaux" is a white wine made in Burgundy from Chardonnay by Domaine Matrot.
Domaine Matrot is one of the oldest bottlers in Burgundy and one of the largest and most important Meursault estates. Owned by Thierry Matrot and his wife Pascale, the domaine has some of the finest vineyards in the heart of Burgundy. The average age of the vines is over 30 years and they have been farmed organically since 2000.
The Chalumeaux 1er Cru comes from 30 year old chardonnays facing south-east on clay-limestone soils on the slopes below the village of Blagny. Fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts and ageing takes place in 1 year old Burgundy barrels for 11 months.
It should be noted that organic farming practices are followed throughout the process, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and respect for the land.
Tasting Notes of Domaine Matrot Puligny-M. 1er Cru Chalumeaux
Puligny 1er cru Chalumeaux de Matrot develops magnificent mineral, floral and fruity notes.
From the opening we find an extraordinary intensity and precision with limestone, honeysuckle and brioche.
On the palate, the wine is rounded. We find a rather buttery character in texture well counterbalanced by a mineral structure.
