Louis Roederer Collection 244
D.O Champagne
Pinot Meunier Pinot Noir Chardonnay
Description
Louis Roederer's Collection 244 cuvée represents the House's 243rd blend since its creation.
Thus, freed from all imposition, exclusively in search of the best wine each year, the art of blending becomes an essential part of the House's project.
To enhance freshness and balance the correct ripening of the harvests, we have launched a “Perpetual Reserve”. This Perpetual Reserve, started with the 2012 vintage, enriched each year with the latest harvest and preserved in large-capacity stainless steel tanks, provides new sensations, both tactile and gustatory.
The reserve wines aged in wood represent 10% of the Collection 244 blend and constitute the House's trademark, the absolute recognition of its style. The patina of time adds softness and tenderness to the mix, and some smoky, lightly toasted notes.
Created from Perpetua Reserve and wood-aged reserve wines, completed with the best wines from the 2018 vintage, Collection 244 is rooted in the Champagne region and the foundations of our House of Reims. Thus, freedom always guides the assembly, depending on what Nature provides.
This epicurean champagne is the great wine of several vintages of the House, its most faithful standard! The Collection number, which represents the number of blends since the creation of the Louis Roederer House, allows all wine lovers to choose their wine based on the degree of youth or maturity they desire and appreciate.
A new ambition, a freedom that today leads the Louis Roederer House to write a new chapter in its history by creating Collection. The time, climate change and the importance of sustainable viticulture that is respectful of living beings to express all the qualities of the terroir are realities that must be responded to.
All Collection plots, those of the Louis Roederer wineries and those from its historical partners, have been redefined to preserve only those that best adapt to its identity, rooted in the heart of the Champagne terroir.
