Louis Roederer Cristal Brut Magnum 2008 represents the best effort of the Maison Louis Roederer, a champagne of extraordinary finesse and elegance.
From the depths of the chalk, Cristal forged its identity in these chalky soils that reflect the sun's rays in summer and capture its soft light in winter. Cristal has a restrained strength and penetrating purity, like an agile dancer who pirouettes across the sky with magnificent lightness. The radiant fruit rumbles, with an initial all-pervading vibration that calls for contemplation. The chalky soil gives the wine its firmness, chalky concentration, a sense of light silkiness and delicate tension.
The 2008 vintage was a continental year, warm and intense, with extremely warm temperatures and a climate of contrasts, with hot and cold weather taking turns in succession. Cristal 2008 embodies this concentration and intensity, all the energy and complexity of the vintage.
Tasting notes for Louis Roederer Cristal 2008
Bright straw yellow with slightly amber reflections, delicate but fine and persistent perlage.
The nose has a very broad and rich bouquet of candied fruit (lemon, orange), white flowers (lily) and freshly roasted nuts (hazelnut, almond).
The palate is round and firm, with a juicy, full-bodied structure that is both smooth and creamy. However, the structure is brought to life by the lively, slender freshness which, while leaving the fruit characteristics intact, diffuses them towards more citrus and floral aromas.
