Description

Macán Oro emerges from the depths of the Rioja region. This wine encapsulates the most authentic and distinctive style of this prestigious land, fusing past and present.
It is a wine that pursues harmony in expressing its roots. The character of its place of origin gives it a special elegance and a persistent imprint, enveloping it in an unforgettable balance between sensitivity and expressiveness.

This is a red wine made exclusively from the Tempranillo grape variety. After alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels and tanks. Ageing takes place in fine-grained and extra-fine French oak barrels, with a greater proportion in new barrels and the rest in barrels previously used for another wine. The wine is matured in wood for 15 months and then kept in bottle until it is sold.

Macán and Macán Clásico represent the joint vision of two great names in the world of wine, Rothschild and Vega Sicilia, on the Rioja region. These wines stand out for their great elegance, where the harmony of their aromas and flavours reflect the authenticity of the land they come from and their capacity to produce exceptional wines.

The coexistence of both wines is due to the desire to preserve the Bordeaux tradition of making a first and a second wine. Both wines cohabit throughout the process, being treated in the same way, from the vineyard to the classification tasting. At this point, the different batches of wine from the vintage are separated, revealing the two wines individually and showing the differences between them.

Tasting notes of Macán Oro

Macán is more reserved, with its great elegance that will develop over time, wrapped in silky tannins. It is a wine that has a greater ageing capacity compared to its counterpart and is marked by a strong minerality.
