Description

Mar de Frades Finca Monteveiga is an excellent single varietal Albariño from the Rías Baixas DO.

Finca Monteveiga comes from a vineyard located 160 metres above sea level in the area of Ribera del Ulla, the most northerly and distant from the coast within the Rías Baixas appellation.

The Albariño vineyards, planted in 2003, are grown on high trellises, with low yields and less intensive farming practices. Thanks to a soil with less granite content, predominantly composed of schist, a higher altitude and more marked thermal variations, fresh, refined wines with ageing potential are achieved.

Harvesting is carried out in flat boxes, carefully selecting and cutting the bunches by hand. Afterwards, they are transported in refrigerated trucks to the winery, where they are placed on sorting tables and transferred to the closed press to obtain the free-run juice.

The maceration of the free-run must with its lees is carried out in ganimedes tanks for 5 days at 4ºC, protecting the must with CO2 and without adding sulphites. After 48 hours of natural decanting, the must is obtained free of lees, which is fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts for 21 days at 16ºC. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is left to rest on its lees.

Mar de Frades Finca Monteveiga tasting notes

This wine offers an extraordinarily complex sensory experience, standing out for its profound aromatic diversity. It is a white wine that exhibits the longevity potential characteristic of the Albariño variety, manifesting its saline and aromatic origin in a unique way, especially enriched by its 15 months of ageing on lees.

Visually, it has an attractive lemon colour with steely glints that denote its freshness and vitality. On the nose, it displays a remarkable aromatic intensity, where notes of ripe fruit, minty freshness and the herbal freshness of eucalyptus intertwine, creating a symphony of fragrances that invite you to explore every nuance.

On the palate, it reveals a delicate and enveloping wine, with a perfectly balanced structure. Its masterfully integrated acidity enhances the vivacity of the flavours and provides a sensation of freshness with every sip. The finish is savoury and lingering, leaving a memorable impression on the palate that invites you to continue enjoying every moment.
