D.O Bierzo
Mencia
Description
The wine petals of the bierzo is a red wine elaborated in the D.O. Bierzo by THE Bodega Descendientes de J. Palacios mainly with the variety Mencía, complemented with a small proportion of white grapes like the Alicante Bouschet.
This wine is the result of a perfect assembly since half of the grapes are from selected vineyards in the municipality of Corullón, and the other half of the grapes are selected in several vineyards located in the heads of the poorest hills of different mu Nicipios: Valtuille, Villadecanes, Parados and Villafranca del Bierzo. The grape comes from small plots of very old vines, between 50 and 90 years, of very low yield.
Petals of the Bierzo it remains for 4 months in cask which gives it the aromatic character more fruity of the mencía, with cherry, blackberries and red flowers that give to the wine a great fragrance and the name.
Tasting notes of the petals of Bierzo
The petals of the Bierzo have a beautiful cherry colour, dark, clean and shiny, with violet hues. Tear, thin, slow-falling. The nose is intense, with a distinct varietal character. A lot of ripe red and black fruit, accompanied by intense and aromatic floral notes. When opened, it becomes more complex to appear a surprising minerality and soft and elegant toast. Light background that reminds us of thickets, undergrowth. In Boca is a wine of the Bierzo expressive, very tasty. Good attack, ample, with a long velvety, fresh, intense journey. Lots of fruit and a lot of nuanced flower with greedy notes. Good acidity and polished tannins. Long, persistent finish. Excellent quality-pleasure-price ratio.
