Description

Viladequinta is a red wine produced in Carbellada de Valdeorras with varieties such as 40% mencía, 10% garnacha tintorera, 20% merenzao, and the remaining 30%, brancellao, sousón, caiño and ferrón by the Adega O Cabalin winery.

This wine is made by hand harvesting the grapes in 15 kg boxes. Fermentation is then carried out in 500-litre open barrels, using indigenous yeasts. During this process, 30% of traditionally crushed bunches are added, while the rest is destemmed without crushing.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in 500-litre barrels.

All the grapes used come from three north-facing plots. These plots are located on very steep slopes at an altitude ranging from 620 metres to 750 metres. The soils are shallow slate. The vines were planted between 1918 and 1929. These plots are located in the municipality of Carballeda de Valdeorras, in the V-shaped valley formed by the Casoio river, a tributary of the Sil.

Viladequinta is a well-balanced and gourmand wine that becomes increasingly complex and interesting as it is tasted. It has a complete profile and great finesse.

Serving suggestions: This wine is a delight to be enjoyed on its own, but if you decide to accompany it with food, it goes very well with cheeses and cold meats, grilled vegetables, red meats, stews, vegetables and roasts.

It can be enjoyed immediately or kept for future consumption.

Viladequinta Tasting Notes

The wine has a ripe cherry colour with reddish reflections and a medium intensity layer.

In the olfactory phase, the explosion of red and black fruits stands out, followed by a balsamic freshness that gives way to notes of wet earth and mushrooms, together with subtle aromas of blue flowers. It is a very fragrant wine.

As it evolves, it reveals a dark stone minerality and hints of oak, such as meaty spices (saffron and bay leaf), spicy notes (black pepper and clove) and caressing sweetness (cinnamon and nutmeg). Its aromatic complexity continues to grow and unfold nuances.

On the palate, the wine is characterised by its smooth and creamy texture, full-bodied without being heavy. It has excellent acidity and ripe vegetable flavours with a fruity finish. It is flavoursome, fresh and crisp, with outstanding length and an addictive finish that invites further drinking.
